BIFF & BIL 2011 roadshows to attract overseas exhibitors

Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Ministry of Commerce, is gearing up to promote BIFF & BIL 2011 (Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Bangkok International Leather Fair) as a world stage for fashion, textile and leather industries. Several marketing and PR strategies have been used to recruit overseas exhibitors in target countries including China, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Hong Kong, to attract major exhibitors to join BIFF&BIL 2011 to be organized at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok from April 20 – 24, 2011.

DEP has organized several activities to promote BIFF&BIL 2011. Among others included publicizing the fair at AFTEX Council Meeting – the annual meeting and the biggest in the industry organized by ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX). The event, this year held in Bali, Indonesia, has been joined by many leading companies and major manufacturers from around the world. And as part of the activities, DEP invited representatives from Indonesian government as well as traders and buyers to attend a dinner reception lavishly held to promote the fair.

 

The dinner was joined by representatives from public and private organizations from both countries: Mr. E.G. Ismy, Executive Secretary of BPN Asosiasi Pertekstilan Indonesia; Mr. Santo Widjaja, CEO of Antheus Corporation Indonesia; Mr. Pilan Dhammamongkol, President of The National Federation of Thai Textile Industries; Mr. Jirasak Rojanawongse, Represent Secretary General of The National Federation of Thai Textile Industries; Mr. Yuttana Silpsarnvitch, Secretary General of Thai Garment Manufacturer Association; Mr. Bundit Pongsarojanavit, representative from The Thai Weaving Industry Association and representatives of BIFF & BIL 2011 team.

 

Apart from that, a luncheon party was organized at China Hotel in Guangzhou, to promote the fair in China. At the event, DEP presented special promotion for Asian exhibitors as well as a Buyer Package giving special promotion and privileges for group of buyers participated with the support from Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). With this effort, several were interested in attending the coming fair.

 

The luncheon was joined by overseas traders and buyers as well as representatives from involved organizations. Some of them included Mr. Tang Zhi Rong, President of CCPIT Haizhu; Mr. Huang Wenying, Secretary General of CCPIT Guangdong Haizhu Council; Mr. Li Baiyun, President of Guangzhou Clothing Trade Association; Mr. Xuan Suiming, Vice President of Guangdong Association of Garment and Garmentarticle Industry; Mr. Anthony Lee, Consultant of CCPIT Guangdong; Mr. Hui-Jun Want, Exhibition Department Director of CCPIT Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce, among many others.

 

Haizu is one of the biggest districts in China and the production base for garment and textile industry. Though most manufacturers attended the event have never visited BIFF & BIL, DEP is hoping that with this effort, they will be interested in attending this year’s fair. BIFF & BIL 2011 targets to attract 38,000 visitors from around the globe and will showcase a complete range of products and services from leading local and international exhibitors covering 1,100 exhibition booths.
